What Is A Full Moon Ritual?
Wondering what to do during a Full Moon?
A Full Moon Ritual is a series of intentional and symbolic actions you take on the night of the Full Moon to tap into the spiritual, healing, and manifestation potential of the Full Moon energy.
Moon rituals have ancient origins and the power of the moon has throughout history captivated and fascinated humanity.
The Moon is, of course, the closest celestial body to Earth, and regardless of speculations as to its true origin, its gravitational pull and energy has long been known to have an impact on everything from the Oceans tides, farming and fishing practices, to personal moods, energy levels, and manifestation results.
While each phase of the Lunar Cycle carries a unique energetic significance, the moons energy is by far the most noticeable around the time of the Full Moon.
The Full Moon’s Energetic Influence
When the Moon is Full, and the light of the Sun that it reflects is fully illuminated in the night sky.
The Full Moon marks a time of energetic culmination and an explosion of spiritual energy on the inner planes.
Full Moon energy has a way of stirring up emotions and heightening psychic sensitivity. The Full Moon is a time when the faery and elemental realms are more active, and the subtle vibrations of the higher spiritual realms become more easily felt, accessed and reached.
The Full Moon also has a profound way of revealing what was once hidden in the shadows on a personal and collective level.
Symbolically, and by shining a light into the darkness of night, the Full Moon energy has a way of revealing what is no longer serving you, and what needs to be healed, integrated or released so you can continue to progress on your path of living your most vibrant life.
Because the Full Moon is a time of heightened spiritual energy, it is a wonderful time for meditation, cleansing and recharging your energy, healing, and for releasing and shedding the old to allow your highest divine potential to manifest in your life.
This profound energy is exactly why there are so many cultures and traditions that observe the Full Moon and carry out Rituals and Ceremonies to consciously tune into the power of the energetic window that opens around the Full Moon.
Our ancient ancestors were much more connected to the night sky, and the cycles and rhythms of nature than we are today. The moon was observed for practical purposes like optimizing farming and fertility, as well as for sacred and ceremonial events and celebrations.

The Dark Moon
When the light of the moon is not at all visible in the sky, it’s called the Dark Moon and is a powerful time to enter inward. To look within, rest and reconnect with the space and void within us which when tuned into reconnects us with All. This is a time for profound healing and inner work during which your psychic senses may be amplified.
The New Moon
The New Moon is sometimes interchangeably seen as being the same as the Dark Moon. Though it can also be referred to as the very first sliver of light as the light of the Moon is reborn in the sky after going completely dark. The New Moon is the beginning of a new cycle and is the perfect time to set new intentions around what you want to create and experience in your life. It’s a time of new potential, rest and replenishing your energy so stepping into the new you can move with greater ease, peace, creativity and flow.

The Full Moon is also seen as a time of culmination and harvest where the intentions you set on the New Moon may now begin to manifest and align with you. Tune into gratitude for the many blessings you are beginning to see within and around to stay aligned with the highest and best possibilities for your life.
The Waning moon is the phase of the lunar cycle immediately after the Full Moon and lasting until the moon is Dark and New. The Waning moon is when the light of the moon is diminishing, and as this happens we each have opportunities to release and let go of what no longer serves and supports us in our journeys through life. This is the perfect time to focus on releasing and letting go of old habits, limiting beliefs and perspectives that no longer serve who you are now and who you are becoming.

When the light of the Full Moon is illuminating the night, what has been buried or hidden in the shadow is often illuminated too. When this happens, it’s a powerful opportunity to face your personal shadow for healing, release and to let go. What are you holding on to that is no longer serving you? A symbolic ritual of release around this under the light of the Full Moon can be really powerful for actually clearing it out of your energy field and life, and letting it go.
Consider writing out what you want to release and let go of on a piece of paper… This could be perspectives, habits, emotional patterns, or limiting beliefs… Once you’ve written everything down, then symbolically (and safely) burn the paper to let it go.
“I now release this into the light.”

Charge Your Spiritual Tools and Crystals
The Full Moon is a wonderful opportunity to cleanse and charge your crystals and other spiritual tools under the light of the Full Moon. Gather up your crystals (stones like Selenite, Moonstone, Amethyst and Quartz respond especially well to moonlight) and place them outside under the energy of the Full Moon.

Depending on where you live and the current weather, make sure your crystals are placed somewhere where they won’t be messed with or damaged (Selenite especially you don’t want to leave out in the rain). Alternately, you can place your crystals on a windowsill that gets a good amount of moonlight. Outside is definitely more powerful, but work with what you have access to!
Make Full Moon Water
Moonlight Water, or Full Moon Water is essentially just water that you set outside under the light of the Full Moon to “charge”.
Be sure to you use spring water or purified water so that it’s free from added chemicals, chlorine, and impurities. You’ll also want to store your water in a glass container so there is no plastic residue leeching into it!
Once you have purified water in a glass container, set it out to sit under the moonlight. When you put your water outside (or on a windowsill that gets moonlight) place an intention for what you want to create, release, or tune into.
As the water sits out under the light of the moon it soaks up the energy of nature along with the light and magic of the Full Moon. Then in the morning, drink it… Feeling your energy increase and your intention aligning with you!

Soak Up Some Moonlight
One of the most simple, and yet nonetheless powerful Full Moon Rituals is to just go outside and gaze up at the moon.
Feel the light of the Moon shining down upon you, cleansing and blessing your energy and supporting you in manifesting even more blessings towards you. You can also hold your hands up towards the Full Moon to feel the moonlight recharging your healing hands and etheric life force energy.
Take A Salt Bath
A cleansing salt bath is a perfect add on to any release and clearing work you're doing amidst the Full Moon. Water is already cleansing, rejuvenating and recharging, but its also directly impacted by the energy of the Full Moon! So a salt bath now is sort of supercharged too! Dim the lights, light a few candles, draw a bath and add in sea-salt, Epsom salt and lavender oil (or whatever essential oil suits you).
Relax, soak and allow yourself to release all that no longer serves and to come back into alignment with the higher spiritual realms and with your True Self.
Full Moon Dance
Turn on some music, or tune into your inner rhythm in silence… And dance under the light of the Full Moon. You can do this Moon Dance outside directly in the moonlight, or in the privacy of your home. As you dance, allow your body to move intuitively and freely. Feel and sense that your movement is cutting through illusion and distortion in your field and feel the transformational energy of the Full Moon circulating through your being.
