Yes, but not always. So, before I get to that, I do want to mention that there are many physical explanations for ringing in your ears or hearing high pitched vibrations.
A ringing sound in one or both ears can signify an underlying medical condition, so it’s always wise to check with your doctor to rule out any medical or physical issues, especially if the ringing you’re experiencing is persistent.
Physical Causes of Ringing In the Ears…

Tinnitus is a medical condition that is well known to cause ringing in the ears. Ringing or buzzing in the ears could also be caused by things like damage to the ear drum, a buildup of earwax, ear infection, a vitamin D deficiency, and really a variety of other completely physical based reasons.
Certain prescription medications actually list ringing in the ears as a potential side effect as well.
In addition, many electronics emit high-pitched frequencies that some people are naturally more sensitive to than others.
It has been scientifically proven that children and teenagers can hear higher pitched sounds than adults, but some adults retain better hearing longer.
But when it’s not any of the above…
And when you’ve ruled out any physical cause for what you’re hearing…
Hearing vibration, buzzing, and high-pitched frequencies can have a spiritual origin.
Spiritual Causes of Hearing Frequencies
A Sign of Spiritual Awakening
Believe it or not, hearing frequencies is actually a common sign of spiritual awakening!
As you raise your vibration and progress on your ascension path, you begin to tune into the higher vibrational realms. Your subtle and psychic senses open, and you become more aware of all that is happening beyond the limited scope of what you can normally perceive with your physical senses.
While this is all amazing, there may be a bit of an adjustment period where you experience sensations, or even symptoms like lightheadedness, tingling, interrupted sleep patterns, or even hearing vibrations, high-pitched frequencies and, you guessed it… experiencing ringing ears.
A Sign from Spirit Guides/ Angels
Hearing a high-pitched frequency or vibration can also indicate the presence of your spirit guides, angels, as well as other spiritual beings.
I have a spirit guide who uses a high-pitched frequency to get my attention!
It works something like this: I’m going about my day to day life, walking into a store, or sitting at my computer, when seemingly out of no-where I hear a clear, crisp high-pitched frequency for just a second in my left ear.
When this first happened for me, I didn’t know what it meant. Now, I now it’s a sign for me to pay attention and to tune in using my subtle psychic senses to receive the rest of the message from my guide!
The Intelligent Cosmic Vibration of God!
Another spiritual explanation for hearing a hum, high-pitched frequency or buzz in your ear not tied to the physical, is that it is the voice of God.
In other words, you may be momentarily tuning into the sound of the Universe and the Source vibration that calls All That Is into being.
The tone Aum is said to be the vibration of the Divine, and many meditators, spiritual seekers, and ascending initiates, (me included) have heard this Divine hum during or after meditation. This tone is often heard in the right ear, and can happen spontaneously as well as during or after meditation.
If this happens to you, enjoy it! Take it as a good sign, and an opportunity to increase your present moment awareness even more… God presence is awaiting you, tune in!
Signaling the Ascension Shift
Hearing frequencies can also be a sort of announcement from God/ your guides/ The Universe, regarding the ascension shift and your shift in vibration.
As you may or may not be aware, our planet, and actually the entire universe is experiencing an ascension process… Without going too in depth here, ascension is the process of increasing and raising frequency. Hearing vibrations or high-pitched frequencies offers a sort of signal that this change is happening.
The frequency may be a sign that you’re awakening to the higher dimensions, and tuning into more of your innate power as a divine spiritual being in physical form.
The high-pitched frequency or vibration you are hearing may also offer validation and seve as a sort of indication that the ascension process, including activating and upgrading your DNA is taking place.
An Influx of Ascension Energy
Ascension happens in waves. And since the ascension process is happening throughout our solar system, and is tied to our solar system relocating to the center of the galaxy, there are quite frequently waves of ascension energy pouring onto the planet to further elevate the vibration and carry out the ascension shift.
When a wave is peaking, and you’re tuning into a higher vibration than ever before you may hear a physical representation of this in the form of ringing, high-pitched frequency, or a buzzing in your ears.
Spiritual Interference
I don't want to scare you with this one…
But sometimes hearing tones and ringing may actually signify interference from non-physical, or even extraterrestrial entities. Usually when this is the case the tone is in the right ear, and not the left.
Or it may be accompanied by a sense of pressure…

Surround yourself with God's love and light, and know that the power of the light is far more powerful than any darkness or negativity you may be experiencing.
Clairaudience Awakening
Finally, clairaudience is otherwise known as psychic hearing. It’s the ability to hear beyond your normal physical hearing, into the realms of Spirit, angels and higher consciousness.
If you’re in the process of opening your psychic hearing you may begin by hearing in the realm of spirit through tones, hums, and high-pitched frequency sounds.
Be open, pay attention, and relax to allow more information to flow through your psychic hearing sense.
What to Do When You’re Hearing Frequencies?

If you’re hearing high pitched frequencies, experiencing a sort of ringing in your ears, or hearing a buzzing sound, the first thing to do is explore the physical causation.
If you are able to rule out medical issues, hearing vibrations and high pitched frequencies is likely a sign that you’re connecting with the higher vibrational realms.
And despite it’s positive meaning, like most ascension symptoms it can be bothersome for some people.
To manage the sounds, try spending time outside in nature, or in water.
When you do hear the sound… Pay attention! Ask your guides and angels about the meaning, then pay attention to your intuition and notice any additional feelings, ideas, or impressions you receive.
Finally, humming, chanting, or vocalizing the sound Aum, or Om yourself can help bring you into balance, and reduce any stress you may be feeling related to the frequencies you’re tuning into.
“The specific tingling you're tuning into… You are hearing spirit. You are hearing into the realms of light, you are hearing vibration. Let this be a validation of the shift, of the greater light you are tuning into, of the greater love you’re elevating into.
Be aware and pay attention – for alongside the tones you hear is further guidance.
And when you focus inward and become receptive, this greater guidance will appear through a feeling, through a thought, through hearing internally at the start about your next steps, about becoming in greater resonance and alignment with that which will most serve in continuing to progress into your brightest light.
Pay attention to the tones – a validation support on the left side, a call to be more aware to shift your thinking, to pay attention to external influences, to protect your energy on the left. And on the left, this is also a calling card, a sign from the angels, a signal of our presence.
When you’re receiving guidance, let yourself become more receptive to tune in to a deeper level. It’s there for you.
